"Deux Et Deux" is a framed, original oil painting that captures the essence of the French poem 'Page D'Ecriture' by Jacques Prevert.
In this poem a young French pupil, bored with the arithmetic lesson of the moment, drifts off in his day dream to be saved by an imaginary bird passing by the window.
It is a poem learned many, many decades ago in school but somehow every line has stayed with me.

I have a fascination in painting chairs as a subject.
As I started to paint the two small wooden school chairs, the poem came to mind.
The walls of the classroom have dissolved into the the dreamy escape that the youth has come to prefer to the lesson.
Lines from the poem are written over the 'black board' of the scene.
"Sauve-moi, jou avec moi oiseau!" Save me, play with me - bird!
